Story behind the song
Several events inspired the writing of this song. Probably the most important inspiration was an email exchange that I had with a good friend discussing doubts about her self worth. I think everyone deals with this issue at times.
Lyrics
KING’S RANSOM Verse 1 Take this bread;. · a sign of love. · This is My body, maimed and torn from life, · a bitter price to face. · No greater love, · can one express, · to lay his life down for a friend, · you know I did this in your place. Chorus 1 & 2 But consider as you take this, · that I paid a king’s ransom. · Hands that made the world for you, · were pierced to set you free. · and remember that I love you; · I paid a king’s ransom, · if you’re questioning your worth, just look to me. Verse 2 Take this cup; · this is my blood. · It was shed to free you from your debt; · my new covenant with you. · Atoning blood, · washes the stain, · of the sin that held you distant; · but the cross made all things new. (to Chorus 2…. ) Bridge I know that you’ll question Me; · you’ll wander and you’ll stray. · Still I’ll keep whispering, · be still you’ll hear Me say. Chorus 3 (End) Remember that I love you; · I paid a king’s ransom for you, · the One that gave you life; · nailed to a cross to set you free. · Just remember that I love you, · I paid a king’s ransom. · If you’re questioning your worth, · just look to Me. · If you’re questioning your worth, · come back to Me…
