Wear Clean Underwear
Mama laid out all the rules; they were fair and fine
I had to go see papa; if I didn’t mind
He was very tough and didn’t spare the rod
I feared him the same way as I did my God
Don’t forget look up and down before you cross the street
Don’t talk to any strangers you may chance to meet
Children should be seen: they should not be heard
Try to keep silent; hush mums is the word
I remember mama before I went to school------- {Chorus
She stressed that I follow each and every rule
Now brush your teeth real good; better comb your hair
Make sure you put on your cleanest underwear
Don’t talk back to your teacher; show her some respect
Don’t slouch down in your seat; be sure you sit erect
Always say, “Excuse me please” when you cross someone’s path
Learn all of your spelling, history, and math
Mama didn’t tell me about the birds and bees
But she made me study all my ABC’s
You won’t amount to anything if you are a jerk
Success can be accomplished only by hard work
I remember mama before I went to school
She stressed that I follow each and every rule
Now brush your teeth real good; better comb your hair
Make sure you put on your cleanest underwear
Instrumental break
Now don’t forget to say yes mam, yes sir, and thank you
Be nice to everybody and they’ll be nice to you
These days, good manners are going out of style
The good old days were never this wooly and wild
I remember mama before I went to school
She stressed that I follow each and every rule
Now brush your teeth real good; better comb your hair
Make sure you put on your cleanest underwear
Brush your teeth real good; better comb your hair
Make sure you put on your cleanest underwear
