"A Rocket Ship To Yesterday"
(Howard Graves)
When you left,
Time stood still.
It was theft;
You stole the thrill
Of looking at your paintings
Hanging in the hall
When you left,
That was all.
When you waved
And said goodbye,
I tried hard
To justify
The sound of your car tires
Turning the wrong way
When you left
On that day
If I had my way,
I'd fly a rocket ship to yesterday
Zooming back through time
Trying to find
A place to set it down and be with you.
Did I see
Sad cry lines?
Or did I see
A criminal mind
Working on the story
Of one more fairy tale
I don't know--time will tell
Yet if I had my way,
I'd fly a rocket ship to yesterday
Zooming back through time
Trying to find
A place to set it down and be with you.
