Story behind the song
In 1984 Doug Cowen received a phone call from his friend and fellow musician Terry Smith. Smith had just recorded a demo of a song he'd written titled "Easy Love." He invited Cowen to the studio to hear his new song. Doug was Immediately impressed and asked Smith if he could record his own version of the song. Cowen recorded and mixed "Easy Love" between 1984 and 1986. The self produced 45rpm record was independently released in 1987 and by February 1988 was being played regularly on area radio stations through out the Michiana area. In 1995, the record gained renewed interest when DJ Mike Shannon of WHLY started spinning the song on his morning show. Once again "Easy Love" was being played locally and requested by listeners. It eventually went on to receive national air play notably on the ABC Radio Network supported and played regularly by the late great legendary DJ Eddie Hubbard. Special thanks to: Special thanks to Frosty Stillwell for his amazing and talented contribution to this song. Frosty not only helped in the arrangement but also played piano, Kurzweil Keyboard strings, Tenor Saxophone and sang back up vocals. He is currently one of the DJ's on the popular California radio show known as the Frosty, Heidi & Frank Show. It's a talk radio show hosted by Forrest (a.k.a. Frosty) Stilwell, Heidi Hamilton, and Frank Kramer. The show is based in Los Angeles, California and began on 97.1 FM Talk (KLSX) Also thanks to DJ "J.T. In the Morning" (Jon Thompson). His interest and support is the initial reason "Easy Love" got the attention that it received in 1988. Thank you J.T. once again. Last but not least I'd like to thank D.J.Mike Shannon for blowing the dust off of the original 45rpm in 1995 and spinning it on his morning show at WHLY. Thanks also Mike for submitting the song to Eddie Hubbard. You gave the song renewed interest and I simply had a blast being a part of your program. Those were great times. Thanks my friend. Lyrics
EASY LOVE Words & Music by Terry P. Smith Easy Love/ Tie your heart up with a string Wrap it all around my finger and pretend Our love will never end When we both know, there's no such thing Close your eyes/ I know you wish that you could cry I've seen it happen to you one to many times You fail to see the signs And the burning fire, begins to die For the best of lovers, start as friends The longest journey, is miles before the end is near/And Easy Love, will never come So just be glad you've even had the chance to love at all Take your time/ Love is more than just a game More than searching for the one who fits your dreams Easy as it seems The more you give, the more you gain Easy Love/ Cross your heart and hope to win Pray you'll not be hurt again this time around You wear the lovers crown And that is when, the word begins For the best of lovers, start as friends The longest journey, is miles before the end is near/And Easy Love, will never come So just be glad you've even had the chance to love at all Lead For the best of lovers, start as friends The longest journey, is miles before the end is near/And Easy Love, will never come So just be glad you've even had the chance to love at all Easy Love/ Be glad you've had the chance to love at all
