Story behind the song
My mom and I were having a chatty night with tea. I had recently been working on learning a new chord progression that I wasn't use to. Over our tea, she mentioned she'd been thinking of some lyrics. She spit out the first verse and I knew it would go perfectly with the new chord progression. I told her to hold the though as I grabbed my guitar, pen and notebook and began to jot down everything. The song wrote itself from there. It was a wonderful experience being able to share something like songwriting with my mom. Not to mention, it embellished a bit of how we were both feeling at the time.
Lyrics
I’m a stranger in a world where I don’t belong Where people pass me by all day long Excuse me Sir could you please tell me my name I’ve seem to have lost my way and everything today Well you can hope to get through it When all you have is this coat on your back And this memory in your mind You should stop feeling sorry for yourself Because its not a way to pass the time This life, this wish, this dream Is it really me, or have I lost my way back home Are you the one, the thing that keeps haunting me And leaving me all alone I’m a stranger in this world protection is fear And this is why I cant see clear Hello Mr. Wall please get out of my way You’re just too high to climb and you’re leaving me behind Well you can hope to get through it don’t disbelieve when All you had was me and all I had was you But you should stop feeling sorry for yourself Because if you don’t you’ll never pull through
