Story behind the song
This one was one of the 13 tunes we recorded during the Hit City sessions back in '85. We planned to release an album after the 45, but we never got around to it.
Lyrics
Your midnight unmentionables Lying on the floor And in blinding bolt for passion You forget to lock the door So you never saw the voyeur Who was standing in the hall And now your satin sheets are crimson And theres bloodstains on the wall Purple lady fingers Tangled in her negligee And the police are so disgusted Guess there is nothing left say But out there in the darkness There is a man who bears the blame And if someone doesn't stop him He will surely kill again And your life is but a gleam In the eye of a madman And your stories just a line In a song about the madman For he only sleeps to silence Walking dreams of crimson pools Where he drowns the midnight ladies Where he crucifies the fools So if you spot the Grim Redeemer You have the right to feel a chill For he as come to be your savior And baptize you with steel And your life is but a gleam in the eye of a madman And your stories just a line in a song about the madman Just a dream? It's all but a dream
