Story behind the song
For my lost friend Frank Xavier
Lyrics
MIRROR, MIRROR A Theres light on the street From the people I meet I cover my eyes, but I still feel the heat The clock on the wall Casts a shadow so tall It goes on forever And ends at my feet B Can you remember, so long ago When life was just there for the taking? The house in the meadow, the fire in the glow Of our hearts and the love we would make A Beginning or end My sweet, dead friend? But time is a story We can only append A storm at the door And a wave on the shore The mind can ignore But the heart cant pretend B The soul is a mirror where everything goes To become the dreams that were living Fear or fellowship; reap what you sow But love is when we forgive BREAKS A Just yesterday An old Chevrolet White walls and cat calls Heading my way Partners in crime Figures sublime Cast on the highway By hands in the clay B Can it be over without an embrace; Is there a reason to doubt it? Holes in the clover, digging for grace Sometimes we just go without it A Were over them all Theyve all gone down We grow from the spirits They leave around Were shadows so tall Over them all Do we go on forever And end at the ground? B At the end of the river everything rests So to dance again to the drumming I watch the drama; take a deep breath. Let love be what were becoming
