a day in the life (ballad of a fireman)
i am just using this site as a way to get my lyrics out there. some may have music and some dont. i dont play any music so if no one offers to put music to my lyrics...they wont have any.
Story behind the song
having been a firefighter since i was 14, and growing up in a family of firefighters, i wanted to write a song to show gratitude to all the firefighters out there for all that they do every day.
some good folks at JPF, Lyn and Lynman, were nice enough to lend a helping hand.
this is just a rough recording...hopefully a better one will come soon.

They hear that old bell is ringing as they jump right out of bed,
That same familiar sound tells them what may lie ahead,
They slide down the pole and jump right on the truck,
As they drive on down the road, those kids eyes all light up.
Refrain
They roll on the scene, it’s a fast, fast rising blaze,
They've got to stay focused through sleep deprived haze.
Chorus
They know what their doing,
They live by the code,
Watching over their neighbors,
Protecting their homes.
They enter the flames with one goal heavy on their mind,
The only reason for their mission is to seek, and to find
Looking for anyone to save from this blanket of black
Sometimes there’s this chance, they know, they might never come back.
Refrain
Onward they press, shunning all his fear
They can taste their own sweat and their own salty tears,
Repeat Chorus
Bridge:
Their saving the lives of people on the street,
who may live right next door yet their paths never meet,
But if flames were to spark and their world should start to fall,
There's always that number should they need to call.
Repeat Chorus
