Story behind the song
I wrote this tune a couple of years ago to Kelli's tragic lyric... She turned me down then for collaboration. But I re-approached her cause I still loved the tune.
Lyrics
Soldiers of Misfortune
Words: Kelli Brinkert
Music: Ian Ferrin
(Verse 1)
Little girls out running wild
Looking for cheap thrills
Little boys out on the streets
Selling little pills
(Rise)
No other way
No one cares about the games they play
Running loose in the night
(Chorus)
Soldiers of misfortune, it’s unfortunate
They’re living just to die
The only way they know, is what they know
A slow death suicide
There is no where to go, no hell below
Find heaven in a high
Soldiers of misfortune shooting blind
(Veres 2)
Little girls turn crack whores
Dirty mattress queens
Little boys push needles
While a little baby screams
(Rise)
No other way
No one cares about the games they play
Dying in the night
(Repeat Chorus)
(Bridge)
Violence…silence…
A baby became last week’s news
Trash can…small hand…
Her mother called her Destiny
A cruel and twisted irony
(Repeat Chorus)
