I Don’t Know
In my life questions have been many;
In my life answers have been few –
From what I can see, no one (including me)
Knows the words to the tune.
Is there a reason, oh is there a rhyme?
Does anyone have the slightest clue?
Can you spare a dime? Can you tell me the time?
Can we help each other to get through?
I don’t know why the wind blows,
And I don’t know why a river flows;
I don’t know where I came from,
And when I die I don’t know where I’ll go –
There are so many things that I don’t know.
Is there a plan or is it just happenstance
That there is a me and a you?
Is there a chance I could learn the dance
Before the music is through?
There is fire in the snow, there is gold in the debris;
Deep in the darkness there’s a glow –
It’s a mystery wrapped in mystery;
It’s a secret hidden inside a stone.
I don’t know why the wind blows,
And I don’t know why a river flows;
I don’t know where I came from,
And when I die I don’t know where I’ll go –
There are so many things that I don’t know.
