A love song in E-minor inspired by the beauty of the earth, the mountains, the sea, and a young man named Steve.

After many years of not being able to play other people's music, I have finally started creating my own ... by thinking of a loved one and allowing the songs to come out .... I've always told people that I'm not a musician, and perhaps I'm not, but I just want to play and let the muses create the music for me ... I'm too old to work, I just want to play and enjoy the sounds that come while thinking of someone I care about.

Story behind the song
I met Steve in the mountains and we had a long conversation. We talked about the beauty of the mountains and the sea. He inspired me to hike and bike and read and garden and to dwell on the beautiful gifts of life ...and then he moved away. I saw him for the last time in June of1969. The song came to me as a comfort companion. I sang this song to remind me of the brief but precious time I had known my special fri end. Then Steve passed away and I sang it for his family. They became my friends and we continued to live our peaceful lives; and one day someone helped me play this song on my piano. Steve's mother, Inez, was like my second mother to me... she loved me and she loved the song I wrote and she also inspired me ... in fact it was her beautiful love that had shaped Steve ... and I think of both of them, and their loving family, whenever I play or hum this song. I also think of my father who had inspired my love of music and the mountains.
Lyrics
In a meadow, on a mountain Hiking through the trees On the water in a fishboat Sailing through he breeze Silent, sweetly, and inspiring Peace, Love, I believe In my heart a flame is stirring Tender thoughts of Steve Though away he still seems near me, Gently leads his trail ... Dreams that linger, Whispering beauty Memories cannot fail. Hear him speaking. See him smiling; Beauty that can't leave ... Miles away I'm dreaming of him ... Tender thoughts of Steve.
