Story behind the song
Its a spontaneous explosion of a romp of a song, twelve years in the making..........still as good for you today as it's always been. A song about daring-do on the high seas of life, taken with a pinch of salt and a celebration of life itself (and why not!) Inspired by the original Disney ride, Pirates of the Caribbean, and later the Pirates of the Caribbean film trilogy 'Curse of the Black Pearl', 'Dead Mans Chest' & Worlds End'.
Lyrics
PIRATES (of the Caribbean?) Verse 1 1. The Buccaneer said 2. I'll see you dead! 3. I'll see you swingin' from the yardarm! 4. We've enough gold 5. And an Ivory Coast 6. We've enough food to get by on 7. Our Captain said 8. As he staggered and bled 9. I'll see your souls in Hell Sir! 10. The sea won't keep locked 11. This mutinous plot 12. I curse your rank to the Gods Sir! 13. Now the one o'clock jig 14. On the Captain's bridge 15. Was a merry old dance that day 16. No-one in command 17. 'cept the One-Eyed man 18. Around the Bosun's wheel he swayed! Chorus 1 19. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 20. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 21. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 22. Early in the morning 23. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 24. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 25. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 26. Early in the morning Verse 2 27. On a Corvette they fell 28. In the coastal swell 29. Their ship paid a price at the last 30. Blood drips from their blades 31. Merchantmen enslaved 32. Captain lashed to the mast 33. He was flogged half to death 34. With his very last breath 35. That Gold is Cursed!, he rasped 36. The Pirate's jeers 37. Were heard by his ears 38. His dead soul shoved from the craft 39. With their riches secured 40. And infamy ensured 41. The crew turned their hands to repairs 42. So the rum was broken out 43. and up went the shout 44. Set sail where no-one else dares! Chorus 2 45. Throw him overboard into Davys locker 46. Throw him overboard into Davys locker 47. Throw him overboard into Davys locker 48. Early in the morning 49. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 50. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 51. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 52. Early in the morning 53. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 54. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 55. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 56. Early in the morning 57. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 58. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 59. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 60. Early in the morning Verse 3 61. There's a storm approaching 62. And with the mast half broken 63. The ship began to roll 64. From his perch in the Nest 65. A hand cried out 66. He'd seen a sheltered cove 67. The One-EYED man 68. Steered a course for the land 69. As a lightening bolt tore down 70. It flashed from the mast 71. To the stern, to the poop 72. To the cargo net on the prow 73. Too drunk, too stupid 74. Too totally useless 75. The fire raged upon the deck 76. And the One-Eyed man 77. Try as he can 78. Can't keep the flames in check! 79. As night closed in 80. On the sunken men 81. The Ghostly Captain roared 82. And the drowning man, try as he can 83. Can't escape his words Outro 84. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 85. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 86. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 87. Early in the morning 88. Throw him overboard into Davys locker 89. Throw him overboard into Davys locker 90. Throw him overboard into Davys locker 91. Early in the morning 92. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 93. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 94. Hooray the Black Pearl rises 95. Early in the morning 96. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 97. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 98. What shall we do with a drunken sailor 99. Early in the morning
