Just a Lyric writer
Hi I'm Noel and I write poetry, ballads, and lyrics. The songs here are collaborations I've taken part in. I mostly either only write the lyric or collaborate on the lyric but occasionally I will do a melody too. If you are interested in using any of the songs here, please feel free to contact me. I am also looking for songwriters who are interested in my kind of lyrics to collaborate with.

Lyrics
White Heather Words by Noel Downs As the second son of a noble man, he needed to marry well, But his eye was caught by a lady, rich in beauty not in wealth. Lo he declared himself a suitor, his heart gave its all to one, In search of wealthier prospects, who would not return his love. “What can I do?” he asked her, “To win true love from you, What would you want of me? What do I need to do?” To the high moors she’d send him, for a myth she did not believe, I desire the fabled white heather, bring some back to me. I’ll go and not return, He said, I’ll bother you no more, Until I’ve filled your hearts desire, and bring white heather to your door. With her promise of love in his heart, and the image of her lips against his He saddled his father’s finest steed, and rode into the morning mist, That was the last of our gallant knave, was ever more seen alive, Though many were sent in search of him, they found not where his body lie, Yet on the high moors in the dead of night, thundering hooves ring out, His brave soul for white heather, is still searching there is no doubt. Though you may not believe me when I say, this tale’s not ended at all, For fifty years after that time, White Heather appeared at his lady’s door. Strange it may seem but her promise she kept, until her dying day, Proof can be seen in the whiter heather, growing on her grave.
