Remake of my 2004 song... a biography that all young (and not-so-young) aspiring artists can relate to! Revved up harmonies, reverb guitars and a big beat. (highest position was 1). Total songs in genre: 1,293

I am an independent writer/performer/producer making summery sounds with lots of harmony, guitars, and emotion.
Brian Wilson said of his epic work Pet Sounds, "I wanted to make the listener feel loved." Those words have always remained with me and I hope to share loving, healing sounds with the listener as well.

Story behind the song
My unfulfilled dream to be a recording artist. It is a humorous biography of my teenage dreams and middle aged foolishness. Reached #1 on 27 June 2007. Yeah! :-)

Number One in the Nation Words and music by Johnny Proctor Number One in the nation It’s the latest sensation Call your radio station Number one in the nation Wait till after school ‘til I get my fix Turn tables rock a California mix Sing along with Jan & Dean just for kicks Dreaming someday I might be Number One in the nation It’s the latest sensation Call your radio station Number one in the nation Cutting grass, pumping gas, cramming for tests Building up a mountain of teenage stress Saying prayers, heaven cares I need to be blessed Praying someday I might be I feel so small, feel I’m not here at all With a hit record I’d be ten feet tall Number One in the nation It’s the latest sensation Call your radio station Number one in the nation Looking back on the days I held that dream Life didn’t turn out the way it seemed Deep down inside I still see the gleam On a shiny silver platter that reads Number One in the nation It’s the latest sensation Call your radio station Number one in the nation © 2002 Old Sarge Music

Hi John, I Bought a 5.88 cd of old Rocknroll classics yesterday Lil Richard, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins etc. and got me thinking about your Berry influenced guitar work on this song. This is such a great song. You have nailed that early rocknroll guitar and to combine it with the BB Sound is brilliant. This should be a classic in fact I think it is!

Johnny,This is a great song also.I think I would hold off of the toms a bit until later in the song.I also think theres a bit too much reverb on the vocals not much but they run together a bit during the verses. Also it might help to set a ride cymbol during the chorus to set it apart from the verses. But this is a very strong song.Starts great and grabs your attention and holds it nicely throughout the song.Love the guitar solo.
