Story behind the song
This song is another one of those spontaneous songs I write about homeless people. But here, there's a significant persona that comes into the picture.
Lyrics
I see you on the street Carrying your slippers off your feet They see you and think of A beggar Of someone who's gone astray Then this creature comes It's beautiful, you've never seen anything like it before It's bright, you almost faint This creature, it could be a man But oh, what a kind man He clothes you He feeds you He lets you sleep on his bed And in the morning he talks to you He asks you about your dreams No one has ever asked you about your dreams You wonder, "could this be real?" You wake up It was just a dream But you come to your senses You come home There you're the prodigal daughter And one day You ask about the man you saw in your dream And a voice inside you says, "When you were dirty, When you were poor When you were simple When you were more or less a fool He came and told you you are meant for greater things" And so they say, "He died to save you from your sins."
