I found myself in San Antonio once when I was going through basic military trainig. It made me harder like a stone. I went back to visit an ex-girlfriend. That experience hit me on the head. I stopped by one last time on my way to Mexico from Florida and that's when I wrote the song when I had some time to think in San Miguel de Allende.
Lyrics
In just six weeks a boy becomes a soldier
You give him a gun so he won't grow older
Sell your soul then your spirit is gone
Another poet turned into a pawn
They hit him hard upon his head (That's when he said)
I got Soned in San Antonio
Now I don't know wich way to
I got Soned in San Antonio
Some things I wish I didn't know
I knew a good girl who went far
I tracked her down in the lone star
I really loved her and thought she should know
She said "I'm sorry but you'll have to go
Soon my husband will come home" (and I turned to stone)
I got Soned in San Antonio
Now I don't know wich way to
I got Soned in San Antonio
Some things I wish I didn't know
(Now listen)
Walking along the river sidewalk
I hit that spliff, oh man, I lit up
All the pigeons were singing a song
Everybody was humming along
I saw everything so bright (it was out of sight)
I got Soned in San Antonio
Now I don't know wich way to
I got Soned in San Antonio
I don't remember the alamo
You keep on throwing those stones at me.....
San Antonio
I got Soned in San Antonio
I founf out things I didn't know
I got Soned in San Antonio
I'll flip a coin then I'll hit the road
I think I'll head down to Mexico
