This is another of those songs that I wouldn't consider a standard sound for me. Originally written in 1992, I started messing around with this one again a couple weeks ago to test out some of the features of my new ES-8.
Just me, a synth and a computer...
Story behind the song
I originally wrote this in 1992 after listening to a lot of "alternative radio". I wanted something that sounded Cure-ish -- if you can believe it from what came out. There was a movement in those days toward making alternative/modern rock/college rock more accessible to the masses and Grand Rapids (where I was living at the time) got its very own alternative music radio station, 97 WLAV. I haven't since heard radio as good as that summer in G.R. although Michigan State's student station WDBM has come really, really close on occassion.
Lyrics
When I think of you it drives me insane
When I think of you I want to drive away
When I think of you and all that you're about
When I think of you I want out I want out I want out
Why won't you leave here?
Why won't you just leave here?
When I think of how you played me all along
When I was right you'd convince me that I was wrong
It makes me sick to think how you had your fun with me
You made a game of exploiting my insecurities
Why won't you leave here?
Why won't you just leave here?
(repeat ad nauseum)
