Story behind the song
Some men are larger than life. My dad is too big for this song.
Lyrics
NEVER LET ME DOWN He worked twice as hard as most men, And he worked twice as long. When mortal men were tired and spent, Pop was still going strong. He bought me my first two-wheeled bike And my first baseball glove. He didn’t do it out of like; He did it out of love. Got a trophy and a crown For the greatest dad around, A medal and a gold cup For the greatest dad in town. Got a medal and a gold cup For the greatest dad around. He’s the man who brought me up And never let me down. He showed me quiet action beats talk, Settles things man to man. Better still, he taught me to walk According to God’s Plan. Got a trophy and a crown For the greatest dad around, A medal and a gold cup For the greatest dad in town. A medal and a gold cup For the greatest dad around. He’s the man who brought me up And never let me down. They said that he could beat The best golfers of his day. All I know is that he won Every time I saw him play. But he turned his back on golf, Faced responsibility, To care for my sisters, My sisters and me. Got a trophy and a crown For the greatest dad around, A medal and a gold cup For the greatest dad in town. He’s the man who brought me up And never let me down. Copyright © 2007 Lex Zaleta
