Story behind the song
I was actually at work when I wrote this song. I had to test the computers I built to make sure they functioned and would type a quick line on them. Usually I just let my mind take off and this was what I wrote "It's morning in the torture chamber. I'm sitting here drinking my jasmine tea, listening to my victims scream, and thinking just how much I LOVE my job." That was the jumping off point. What is interesting was after I wrote it, I realized that I had seen this character on a Mel Brooks' Film "Blazing Saddles." He is the hangman who is being asked to hang sherif and there he is, in a western, dressed in medieval garb, and about to hand both offender and horse (very thorough you know). He says to Hedley (sp) Lamar when asked if he can hang the sherif "I am tho busy, but I think I can fit him in about 1:00." So this is a song that he would have commissioned, had I ever had the bad luck of being in his jail :)
Lyrics
Verse 1: Early in the morning at the break of day, people here are screaming and crying lack-o-day. I am sitting waiting for the sun to rise, drinking jasmine tea, and smiling at their cries. Chorus: For I am the headsman, I make torture fun, fun for me if not for you till setting of the sun. Now I'll stretch my muscles and limber up my thighs. My job consists of causing pain for victims of all size. Verse 2: I have various implements and tools that I do use, a whip for her, a clamp for him, and even old thumbscrews. I look around my dungeon, my smile so brightly beams. I will soon have victims who'll scream such lovely screams. Chorus: For I am the headsman, I make torture fun, fun for me if not for you till setting of the sun. Now I'll stretch my muscles and limber up my thighs. My job consists of causing pain for victims of all size. Verse 3: Well, now the sun has risen, I must begin my work. The king would never like it, if I were to shirk. I open up my door, and watch my victims cringe. I savor their fear a moment. (Mmmmm, yes) and then the fun begins. (maniacal laughter). Chorus: For I am the headsman, I make torture fun, fun for me if not for you till setting of the sun. Now I'll stretch my muscles and limber up my thighs. My job consists of causing pain for victims of all size, My job consists of causing pain for victims of all size, My job consists of causing pain for victims half my size. YES!
