Story behind the song
This song was intended to capture the words and feelings of what it was like to be in love but still feel so alone. Love is a massive thing that can swallow you whole. This song is about stepping back and remembering that no matter how deeply you mingle spirits with another, you'll always be alone with yourself and in your mind. Even though you feel the feeings of being in love it might suddenly dawn on you that your other half is not experiencing love in the same manner. Maybe he/she only loves you with half the force that you love them. If that were the case would it be okay with you? It is also a song about if you dwell too much on being in love and fearing that perhaps your love is not being reciprocated so perhaps you should throw in the towel...well, then you will probably have a nice case of self-fulfilling prophecy on your hands. I figure these are the kind of lyrics I'd have loved around age thirteen. So this song is dedicated to my thirteen-year-old self. Joanna...here's your long distance dedication.
