Story behind the song
I was motivated to write this song by the sight of temporary villages set up in large cities that I have visited.

In Boxes Under Bridges (c) copyright 2007
Janice Hopkins
In town one day right after class
Brought lunch under the overpass
Saw a man there searching for the dawn
His eyes showed hope would not last long
Lines were deep in his soul-worn face
He'd run, but couldn't win the race
He took some food; shared it with all
The shadows housed there by the wall
In Boxes Under Bridges.......
What memories do their hearts hold
Or have they been erased
Do they dry each others tears in the cold
God could be found any time, any place
Not only clad in riches
You may see Him in the hard-pressed faces
In Boxes Under Bridges.....
In Boxes Under Bridges.....
I am them and they are me
One thin line blurred by poverty
They stepped across, then lost the map
Can't seem to find their own way back
What memories do their hearts hold
Or have they been erased
Do they dry each others tears in the cold
God could be found any time, any place
Not only clad in riches
You may see Him in the hard-pressed faces
In Boxes Under Bridges.....
In Boxes Under Bridges.....
Did they just let destiny win
Or have they simply gone within
This life was not their only plan
They just need help from God and man
Repeat of Chorus:
