Bands start for many reasons: girls, drugs, free booze. Subjective Well Being merely wanted Pop Tarts.
Hi. We were Subjective Well Being, a three piece rock band from Hot Springs Village, AR. Even though we are no longer active, we are leaving this page up so that if anyone ever come across these tunes, they can still take a listen. We still check back here every once and awhile, so leave us a comment or a note and tell us what you think. Thanks for ten years of rock and roll!

Story behind the song
BEN: I had this riff for awhile. Russ and I were trying to write another Summer Project record and I recorded it and wrote some truly terrible goth rock lyrics, and played it for Russ and neither one of us seemed to like it that much. The riff was decent, but the song wasn't there. About six months later we were working on songs for our "Radio" record and I began playing the main riff. Russ played the bass part that is in the song and it began to come together. Like many of our songs, however, it really started to take shape when we played it together as a full band, where Taylor began to drive the song in all sorts of directions. Russ and I just jammed along with him and the bridge just kept growing and molding the song into something really interesting. Russ came up with the idea for the chorus musically, and it was what really brought the song together. It was cool to see a song go from a basic, raw idea to something that we could really be proud of. This was also the one song that we kept from "Radio" to put onto our next record "Transmission". It just fit better. RUSS: This is another one of the original songs that was a breeze to put together in the pre-production part of making this album. We had the basic idea for this song before we finished making RADIO and it was decided that it didn't fit the premise of RADIO, but would be a definite pick for TRANSMISSIONS. Really the only frills on this are the excellent bizarre/moody keyboards that Ben added in post-production. As far as the lyrics go, my intent for all the words on this album was for them to be completely alienated and disconnected, I was aiming for something hopeless yet uncaring. Totally numb. So that I would have something that accurately conveyed my mood after this record was done. ha..ha..
