Story behind the song
The band was asked to write a song about The Texas Rangers baseball team back when George W Bush was part-owner. I didn't know much about Major League Baseball so they gave me 3 names and I used them. We showed up to the recording session with 2 cases of beer and the VP from Channel 11 KVTT looked "concerned" when I started teaching the band the song as the drummer, Josh Courts, was setting up. But I had recently converted to bass guitar when we found Donny Sabo (lead guitar and background vocals) and convinced him to rejoin his close friend, Rob Hunt, lead guitarist of Side Effex. We knocked the whole thing out in about an hour and they mixed. It was included on a compilation of different styles of regional bands who all had written songs for the Rangers...but this was the song that the Texas Rangers themselves chose for their theme music and commercials. Didn't make a cent either... :-(
