Heretic is a pro-Pagan/Wiccan rock band whose music hearkens back to the glory days of '68-'79 when rock musicians were free to experiment with different musica
I've got some new equipment, yall!! ...And I'm expecting more later this year (I plan to buy the Roland VG-99 when it becomes available, then a real Gibson Les Paul, hopefully, a Custom). Still, though, my band is right now basically just me, a male singer who drops by occaisionally (Jason Perch),a Fender Player's Deluxe Strat, a Roland GR20 and a Digitech GNX 3000. I use a TASCAM FW-1082 as an Audio/Midi interface and control surface for the heart of my studio, the DAW SONAR 6 Producer Edition, on my new computer, assembled by Dell, a quadcore QX6700 with dual nVidia Series 8800 GTX's and 4 gigs of RAM. I use this badass system for all my comosing and lyric writing, and a few vocals. I mix a little classic rock, traditional music from the british isles (I'm a Renassaince Festival frequenter), and heavy metal. Everything I write, even if it has bells and tin whistles in it, has a definite edge. The sound I'm going for is something all at once dark and heavy, but also with a light feminine touch.

Story behind the song
HEY !! New remix of Mother is finally here!!!! First, the song is totally remixed for a MUCH improved overall sound. Second, the lead guitar was rerecorded and remixed, and was balanced with the rest of the instruments after the lead, so that during the verse, when the guitar is playing the vocal parts, it doesn't overwhelm the rest of the instruments; I did my best to make it sound no more or less important than any other instrument, so you can now hear the other instruments as well (the mix actually sounds great IMHO without the lead guitar, as I intended, but why work so hard getting it perfect if it's just going to get drowned out by the loud guitar anyway? Further, the solo itself has been rerecorded using a MUCH smoother, fuller sound, using my newly acquired prized piece in my gear collection, the Roland VG-99. I think you will agree that the new sound is far superior to the old one. Finally, the original portions of the guitar work has been rewritten and performed again, and instead of the ubiquitous generic slow-blues, yet unoriginal and uninspired playing of the original solo, has been replaced by a far more rigorous fretwork performance. The lead remains unchanged, still mirroring closely as possible David Gilmour's orignal fret mastery, with the exception of just a tiny bit of ornamentation that is signature Courtney GamerGirl, just to remind you that the remix is a Heretic song, not a Pink Floyd song. I hope you enjoy; this bit sounds GREAT on my system and burned to CD out in the car; but I'd love some feedback, everyone drop me a line and tell me what you think !!!

Why, thank you both, so much. But I really can't take credit, guys, I must give the credit to my heroes: Ian Anderson, Kieth Emerson, Carl Palmer for the clalssical influence, the two Jims: Jimi and Jimmy, and of course, Robert Fripp, for showing me how to think of Rock music as something epic. GG
