Story behind the song
A conversation between Mary the mother of Jesus and her cousin Elisabeth who will give birth to John the Baptist. The first verse is Elisabeth speaking to Mary and the second verse is Mary's response.
Lyrics
Blessed mother Mary. Precious mother of the Lord. Who am I that you should come to me. For at the very moment my ears received your voice, the child lept in my womd for joy. Oh my soul rejoices and it magnifies the Lord. Through me he brings his light into the world. And every generation will forever call me blessed. For God my saviour has done wonderous things to me, and holy is his name.
