Christmas Love is an overseas collaboration between Stan Good who is based in the US and Lynman Bacolor who is based in the Philippines. Both Stan and Lynman are active contributors and commentators at the Internet-based Just Plain Folks (JPF) forum. Stan, a top poster in that forum and considered as one of the fastest lyricists in that forum, penned a striking set of Christmas lyrics and personally gave it to Lynman. Lynman was inspired by how the lyrics were beautifully crafted so he then provided the melody and subsequently arranged all the elements in the reggae genre. After a few days Lynman posted the rough demo in the MP3 critiquing board of the JPF to get some suggestions for the arrangement. The contributions from the folks at JPF were so overwhelming that the song was further improved. It was Christian Roldan of the band Random Heroes who had the privilege of interpreting the song. The song was inspired by Bob Marley’s “Is This Love” and Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime”.
SONGWRITERS' PROFILE
Stan has been into lyric writing and recording for over 25 years, with songs "held" by artists like Gladys Knight, Eric Clapton, & The OakRidge Boys. His CDs have played in Europe, Australia, and in the US. A clock maker, Stan once invented a clock made from Celebrity Autographs (Mel “Bugs Bunny” Blanc owned one). “I remember how special it was to have that first REALLY good love-of-my-own back at Christmas time and that’s what this song is all about”, says Stan.
Lynman is a medical practitioner whose passion for music preceded his choice of the medical profession. He has a degree in Medical Technology and Doctor of Medicine from the Manila Central University. He ranked no. 9 in the graduating class for medicine and passed the Physician Licensure Examination given in August 2000. He also completed a vocational computer technician course in 1995. He has been practicing medicine in Pampanga since 2000. He was designated as Medical Officer at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore in 2003 and was a recipient of the Courage Fund Award during the SARS Outbreak. He continues to work with government executives and private medical suppliers in providing free and affordable health care to communities in Pampanga. He has given motivational lectures to afflicted patients in order to enhance their cooperation with medical treatments. Lynman was a college band member and leader from 1992 to 1998. His endeavor to become a singer-songwriter started in 2000. He has a deep interest in the use of the latest software as tools in songwriting. He has been an active member of KATHA (Organization of Filipino Composers) since 2005.
