Lyrics
AND THE SKY BLED RED APPLES OF ENMITY Frailty constructs its pretense Of perfect impenetrability As a million wounded dreams Gather in the womb That is The tear duct of God . . . HE made a tree And HE placed it in our hearts In spit-out seeds and bloody drips So that we would always know Its perfect taste But never with our lips. And lo, a PROPHET came to us All cloaked in flaming lies. And he spoke only truths to us And though he spoke the key to life We felt as if we’d died. And his voice was a wind That tore at our hair And ripped out the lilies That we’d braided there. And his eyes were like dancers That writhed in his flames And raged to the chorus Of his hundred names! “I seek my own destruction,” He said with love so soft But twisted to extents so far That it came across as harsh. We offered him an apple From the tree our Master hates. He smiled gently and politely told us He had already ate. “It is never as it should be,” He told us mournfully “Yesterday is murdered! The sun dies every night And the lazy moon concocts Its empty eulogy. “Omnimpotent is our MASTER With his jagged tongue that spews HIS vile spatterings of filth Which he passes of a truths. “And I declare that HE that says ‘I am Just and Right and Good’ Should be asked in clear language— So as not to be misunderstood— Are you good because you’re GOD Or are you GOD because you’re good?” We sat in terrible awe Of this weird, whimsical soul Who danced betwixt threads of Abject madness . . . and absolute control. To see him was to weep. To hear him was to die. He was less and more than our master— More the less he tried. “I asked HIM once myself That simple little question For it I was cast out of HIS Perfect kingdom of Heaven. “The light won’t light the fire That burns in endless wait For something coming hard And mean and sucking down And deep and clean on fate. “Callous is the worm that drinks Its own heart through needle points But something thrives and writhes In me that vomit will anoint. “Starvations is my middle name But I was never told it I had to taste it for myself In the tears of HIM That controlled it. “And balance is all well and good For the 3-dimensional man But here’s a thing of balance Only angels understand: If balance is defined as that Which uses A to ‘oppose’ B So that each have sway And each have it equally So if balance is the force That justifies evil and Hell Then what is there to balance Balance . . . itself?” His words made no sense to us. Our innocent ears were too naïve But he spoke them with such Pretty lips, that we just had to believe And it was then that MASTER came From HIS throne of lies With Heaven dripping like tears From the Hell that was HIS eyes HE wasn’t much for words But this he did say To the angel in flames “ENEMY. AWAY.” Enemy only laughed And it was altogether fit That we were laughing with him I am somewhat sad to admit And when our merriment touched The catlike ears of MASTER He screamed a storm of thunder To drown out the horrific laughter. And with this we were cast into The mud and blood and meat The paradise we knew was gone And apple cores were at our feet And when we felt the first cold wind And the bristles at our feet We knew pain for the first time And knew that the taste Was the taste of defeat “What have you done to us?” We asked HIM called ENEMY HE was our new God and HE said to us, “I have set you free.” And before he left us forever Cold and hurt and naked He spoke these words of wisdom “The road you walk means nothing It’s all in how far you take it.
