None So Blind

This was originally written as a 'Ray Charles' song -- similar (in story, anyway) to 'You Don't Know Me' Ian Ferrin took it into a contemporary spiritual direction, an uplifting tune in contrast to the bittersweet words.

Internationally recognized, prize-winning lyricist well-versed in cabaret, indie, folk, country, showtunes and several other genres.
I am the Grand Prize Winner of the 2007 International Songwriting Competition for my collaboration with Eduard Glumov, "I'm Not Your Friend." We also won First Prize in the Rock/Alt Division of the Great American Song Contest. One judge called it a prime example of "world-class songwriting" and said the images in the were "often stunning." I'm a lyricist and have been collaborating with musicians from California to Kazakhstan, over the Internet. The fruits of that collaboration are found here, and at . While the winning song was a hot funk-rock song, with a compact streamlined lyric, I write in several styles. I've chosen "indie" as my genre, but I write anything from cabaret to country, and am looking to work with musicians and composers of all stripes. Currently I'm finding writing partners here in my home town of Philadelphia.

Story behind the song
This was originally written as a "Ray Charles" song -- similar (in story, anyway) to "You Don't Know Me" Ian Ferrin took it into a contemporary spiritual direction, an uplifting tune in contrast to the bittersweet words. This song is a rough demo -- it's not a "finished" version, but good enough to hear.
Lyrics
(1) Sure we walk, side by side A space between our foolish hands An inch that feels a mile wide We walk right by our promised lands Nature’s beauty fills our eyes But we don’t stop to recognize There are none so blind as those who will not see None so blind as you and me (2) Now we stop, not a word A silence on our foolish lips A quiet that is barely stirred Our powers of speech in full eclipse Nature’s beauty fills the air But we don’t even know it’s there There are none so blind as those who will not see None so blind as you and me (3) Now we part, walk away A curse upon our foolish hearts A wind that blows us far astray Like sailors lost without their charts Nature’s beauty paints the sky But we just watch the world go by There are none so blind as those who will not see None so blind as you and me
