An eclectic collection of songs taking in most styles of music from acoustic folk to jazz, heavy rock and orchestral ballads.
TUT started in the early 1990s playing a punk folk hybrid. A politically aware band we wrote all our own material and had a good deal of critical (if not financial!) success with our first 3 CDs - "Cillataped", "The Last Fish Supper" and "Where the Skeletons Dance" - with an appearance at Glastonbury the high spot. One thing which was a constant was the need to entertain. No-one wants to be slapped round the face with a wet fish polemic so we made sure we always communicated with the audience (mind you at some gigs we could have gone round and had individual conversations although I was always disappointed the one man never brought his dog). The band lost Grahame Hobbs (singer) and Mark Knight (fiddle) in 2001 and with me the only original band member left the last CD "From another Plaice" was a real departure from the previous "in yer face" style - Much more acoustic and darker both musically and lyrically. TUT2 folded in 2003 and since then I've been writing and recording with various people and in our "virtual" band The Phobias with Richard Marris. Mostly cheerful stuff like murder and corruption. I've also been working once again with TUT's old singer Graeme Hobbs on a series of contemporary rock operas and contributing songs to a campaign to keep a London housing estate from being bulldozed by the council and replaced by luxury flats

Lyrics
Sleep Tonight © 2006 Knight/Langford I'm not going to sleep tonight, 'til I know that you're alright I'll just wait here by the phone I saw walls come tumbling down, and you might have been around But I'd rather not have known Why did you have to go? I don't think I'll ever know I don't think I'll understand You're two thousand miles away, there's so much I could say this is not how it was planned Every day apart takes more from me but you must follow your own path But even as these words are leaving my lips they just sound crass And I know should be proud, you always stand out from the crowd but in truth I just feel small I can't feel the way the you do, it really means something to you You don't think of me at all Oh God how did I end up here? I live behind a veil of tears I wish had the strength to leave But I wait here by the phone I just want you to be home Don't want to be the one to grieve Every day apart takes more from me but you must follow your own path But even as these words are leaving my lips they just sound crass You say they need you more than me, but I find it hard to see don't think I ever saw the light I think of others left at home do they wait there by the phone Do they stay awake at night? I know you had to go again but it doesn't help the pain and it doesn't help the fear I see bad pictures in my head I try to think of you instead being happy with me here Every day apart takes more from me you have to follow your own path But even as the words are leaving my lips they just sound crass
