Do we hear ourselves? And are we listening. Do we want peace? Are we doing anything about it?

Story behind the song
The first time I saw war waged on TV was in my youth with the 60's Viet Nam conflict. Watching again during the Gulf War I and II, this song was born and then born again. The symbol is from the Jainist philosophy it means peace or to do no harm to any living thing. It's been quite a number of years since I read any of that stuff, so correct me if I'm mistaken I stripped the drum loop and tried to place the instruments off to the left and right as suggested by Stor from the Zoom forum. Again forgive my uneven rhythm. I consider it perfect in it's imperfection more because of what it says than anything else. Hope it's appreciated for that reason, at least.

Spoke Too Late RoyAllenHunt © March 23, 2003 MyFreeCopyright.com Registered & Protected What were we thinking? Didn’t we know it would happen one day? Since when didn’t things pan out just this way? Every time we make the … same mistakes. Hearts broken, lives taken, homes destroyed and hope lost. So much more than money costs. Now we cry our tears and wring our hands. Speaking of peace throughout the land. Why oh why did we hesitate? It seems now … we spoke too late.. Spoke too late: destruction’s already hear. Spoke too late: we’ve learned nothing but hate and fear. Spoke too late: in all the one’s fought before Spoke too late: gained nothing from war. Oh, so many people dying and…children cry. Can’t sleep at night cause of what comes from the sky. It walks through walls, moves with stealth down the halls. Finding no friends it kills everything within. What a sin, what a sin. It seeks allies the world over and it … always to destroys, how fast we rush off to kill. When nobody seeks allies to end hunger, sickness or to build. What a shame, what a shame that this is our fate. It seems too bad again we….. Spoke too late: destruction’s already hear. Spoke too late: we’ve learned nothing but hate and fear. Spoke too late: in all the one’s fought before. Spoke too late: gained nothing from war. There’s rubble at our feet nothing but smoke and ash do we see. Tell me people, please tell me, are there enough of us who still want peace or did we…speak too Late. Spoke too late: destruction’s already hear? Spoke too late: we’ve learned nothing but hate and fear. Spoke too late: in all the one’s fought before. Spoke too late: we gained nothing from war. Spoke too late
