WINTER SPORTS '81 (MIXED DOUBLES) (c 1988 ver)
Cyrus is a singer-songwriter from India who has been writing lyrics and music for over four decades.
Story behind the song
This is another old recording from the late eighties.... interestingly enough, the female voice doing harmonies is also mine, the old TEAC 4-track tape drive had the built in ability to record from half normal speed to double normal speed. The harmonies were overdubbed on half speed and then played back on normal speed.
Lyrics
WINTER SPORTS '81 (MIXED DOUBLES)
Don't you fall in love with me:
However flattering that might be,
I know it is not what you are looking for-
Experiences dead, have blown dreams out of your head,
And, like a drowning man, you're clutching at a straw...
So, you use your education
To summon every ounce of tact-
Does your new pre-occupation bring you joy?
Am I pleasant artifiction to some played out artifact:
That says you want a man, you need a boy?
Are you looking for a father?
Are you looking for a son?
Do you want to just relive a love you've lost?
Are you looking for a lover
Who could just be anyone
Who pays the cost?
Who pays the cost?
So, you use your education
To summon every ounce of tact-
Does your new pre-occupation bring you joy?
Am I pleasant artifiction to some played out artifact:
That says you want a man, you need a boy?
Don't you fall in love with me:
However flattering that might be ,
I know it is not what you are looking for...
