Story behind the song
"Poinciana" was written by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona in the 1930s. He was very well known in the US and many of his tunes were played regularly by all the best-known big bands of the swing era, Artie Shaw, G. Miller, Benny Goodman, etc. I arranged it with a more contemporary montuno-jazz feel which works real good for the vibes! For the last year or so, I've been singing some words in the chorus and verse along with the sax.
Lyrics
Poinci---ana My Poinciana my love Oh, Poinciana my sweet I love you so...(etc.) Verse: Poinciana, you are a flower in my heart... Poinciana, just like a rainbow in the sky! Poinciana, eres la duena de mi amor Poinci---ana tuyo es mi corazon ... (etc.) Lyrics Copyrighted 2007 by Sergio Bezard
