KENNETH SCOTT DAVID DEAN MONTPELIER Kenneth Scott David Dean, 57, of Montpelier and San Francisco, Calif., with loving family members holding vigil at his side, died peacefully at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2007, after a valiant three-year battle with terminal cancer. Scott was born Nov. 9, 1949, in Montpelier, the son of Jean Lafayette Dean Jasman of Waterbury and the late Calvin Kenneth Dean Sr. of Alburgh. The late Charlie Jasman of Montpelier was Scott's stepfather. Scott was educated at St. Anne's Academy in Swanton, Waterbury High School in Waterbury, and graduated from Harwood Union High School in June 1967. He furthered his education at Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center and spent approximately three years in formal religious training at the Seminary of the Holy Order of MANS in Boston, Mass., and their affiliates. His religious and spiritual path was rich, abundant and lifelong. Scott, at a young age, was personally initiated by Master Kirpal Singh. Scott's hunger, quest and search for God was his constant abiding companion. He shared his spiritual insights, love and light with family and friends at every step of his path. He never met a stranger. He was a friend to all and a pal to literally thousands. Survivors include two sons, Christopher David Dean of Sacramento, Calif., and Gabriel Samuel Dean of San Francisco; his mother, Jean Jasman of Montpelier; brother, C. Kenneth Dean of Montpelier; sister, Debra Dean Thereault of Shelburne; and his former wife, Susan Hunt of Townshend. And a new granddaughter, Francesca Dean of Sacramento. There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Augustine Catholic Church in Montpelier at noon, Saturday, March 10, with a reception to follow in the church basement parish hall. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Lamoille Area Cancer Network Support Group, P.O. Box 38, Lake Elmore, VT 05657, 8884051. This group was invaluable to Scott during his final months on earth. From Scott's heart to ours, to yours: Namasté. We will miss him.
