Underground super-artistic hip-hop.
"Thundacats" is the name we used prior to being signed by 2Ksounds. They insisted that we change our name for fear of copyright infringement. This album was done between 1996-97, and the roughness shows. The production was handled by me (Kool Ace Ha) and the lyrics were ripped by Sammy Brazil. I'd like to note that NO PITCHSHIFTING OR OTHER SOFTWARE was used. This album was produced using nothing more than an Ensoniq EPS. http://www.vintagesynth.org/ensoniq/ens_eps.shtml The lyrics were recorded through a Shure SM-57 mic. We're talking bare fuckin' bones dog. This record still kinda came off, and in any case it got us signed. To hear out debut record with 2Ksounds (as MaddWest) go to: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/maddwest.htm Something that most listeners fail to catch is that this is a concept album. The entire thing is an homage to Star Wars, and it follows the original trilogy (keep in mind it was recorded BEFORE the new ones) in chronological order. Sammy took the name Red Five and I was Gold Leader, which were pilot designations from the movies. Each song represents an aspect of the films, so for example 'Cops And Corvettes' approximates the space-jacking and capture of princess Leia, while 'Miles Of Sand' (an interlude) depicts Luke's return to Tatooine in 'Return Of The Jedi". Anyway, at the time we thought it was hype, hopefully you will too, Biziznotch!

Story behind the song
At the time we did this cut a lot of rappers were doing old school tributes and we thought that shit was kinda bootsy. We figured that our distaste for that shit sorta mirrored Luke's distaste for his pops, ergo "oedipus"..
