A one-man-band with all-original material, writing, composing and performing since 2005.
My name is Evan Schafer. I am an independent (or "indie") musician with a strong grounding in traditional composition, but I like to think my material always has a unique and individual flair. I guarantee not being bored out of your gourd when turning on one of the records. I produce, mix, and engineer everything myself, and have done so since late 2005.

Story behind the song
Evan Schafer - synthesizer, piano, drums, vocals There really isn't much of a story behind "Morning Glory" except for two points. First, I knew I had a dark and doom-like synthesizer part mixed with a syncopated drumline, and I wanted to incorporate both into the same track. I ended up recording a rough version of the final instrumental track, and then forgetting about it after some unavoidable editing issues with the drum track which I didn't want to fix. Second, I rediscovered the unedited and unfinished master track on my computer a few weeks after I had isolated it from my repertoire. I had been seriously considering removing the track from 'Maya' completely, but then I realized I had written lyrics for it ... and I already had the full instrumental part recorded with some editing problems ... so I fixed everything (editing wise) and then chose to have my vocals be the pinpoint of the track. I triple-tracked the same vocals to make it sound like I was coming over a very pristinely-clear PA system in some high school somewhere.
Lyrics
Out from the castle comes the fair maiden Standing on the balcony, the early morning glory Watching the sun rise over the calm waters Taking in the beauty of all the colors She is standing, waiting in Maya for this person To make their way without much trouble Talking to only herself and Mr. Whiskers This person travels far and wide to go to Maya Glassy surface of the waters makes one cry This sight is one no person can deny Flying over in the distance is a tiny bird Through the celestial skies The moon shines just as strongly as night Casting a spell over the ocean waters Making the fair maiden cry with joy And making this person care even more
