Do It Yourself Alternative
Since receiving his first guitar at age 12 (a 1965 Silvertone) Ryan has been writing and playing music for his personal enjoyment for more than 30 years. After years of putting his music on assorted cassettes (and a 8 year layoff to take care of career and kids) Ryan put Pro Tools on an old computer in the back bedroom and began writing, playing and recording music again. It's a life-long hobby for him. Ryan plays guitar, bass and keyboards and uses a drum machine for the beats.

Story behind the song
The song was originally written in 1993 and had slower Chuck Berry feel. I wanted to speed it up in this version. In doing so, it took on a more 70s punkish "gin-gin" guitar-driven sound like the Sex Pistols had. The vocal is at the upper edge of my range so it's touch-and-go. But, I'm going for a DYI punk feel so I'm leaving it.
Lyrics
Tucumcari 08 I’m at the edge of San Gabriel LA on the radio The soul organ pumps out how I feel And the road just goes and goes I’ve got a friend that I haven’t seen About a year or so So much time has moved so fast Or I’m just moving too slow Gotta get back to Tumcumcari Gotta get back to there Left my Sherry in Tumcumcari Left her standing there Mountains reach their fingers Up towards the sky The Colorado wanders While I take a piece of her pie My hand is on the steering wheel I’m speeding back to your side The DJ’s spinning Radar Love To get me through this ride Gotta get back to Tumcumcari Gotta get back to there Left my Sherry in Tumcumcari Left her standing there
