A one-man-band with all-original material, writing, composing and performing since 2005.
My name is Evan Schafer. I am an independent (or "indie") musician with a strong grounding in traditional composition, but I like to think my material always has a unique and individual flair. I guarantee not being bored out of your gourd when turning on one of the records. I produce, mix, and engineer everything myself, and have done so since late 2005.

Story behind the song
Evan Schafer - drums, piano, synthesizer, bass guitar, vocals, tape relay effects When I wrote the main chords for "Mountain", I immediately knew that I had a hit song. It was quite a recording to do, though, since the day before I had had my wisdom teeth out and was in excruciating pain during the session. There are a few parts in the song (that only I can hear) where I was slurring my speech a tad bit from all the meds I was on. Amazingly, the song is still one of my all-time favorites. That's probably only because I was half-delirious while recording it, but also because I was as cognitive and on-the-beat as I was in the final track. Listening back to the deep clarity and detail of the mixing, I can only hope that having oral surgery is the key to getting a near-perfect track like this.
Lyrics
Broken fence, iodine in a glass Times pass, no it won't last Barricade, I should have stayed Why care, it's going too fast Up on the mountainside Feeling the breeze go by You wish you weren't there All of a sudden Detoured, you've got me floored Walking past, walking fast, got to get by Just a trail of broken hearts Along the way Sinking slow, won't get here fast Why do you want to make this last? 'Cause nothing's right anymore And I'm not sure if I can save myself Broken fence, iodine in a glass Times pass, no it won't last Barricade, I should have stayed Why care, it's going too fast Up on the mountainside Feeling the breeze go by You wish you weren't there Wish you weren't there All of a sudden
