Story behind the song
This is the third of Four Sea Pieces. Here I consciously set out to emulate the concept of the four Sea Interludes from Britten’s Peter Grimes. I wanted to create four distinct but connected pieces, each of which would capture a specific aspect of the changing moods of the sea. I was born within sight and sound of the sea (the North Sea as it happens) and being by or on the sea has special significance for me.
Lyrics
Instrumental, but maybe you can hear the sirens singing.
