Story behind the song
The inspiration was actually from a parent that was gone a lot leaving his child at home and not realizing the impact it had on the child. It is also about the impact on the parent after the child leaves home. The idea came to me out of my own parental quilt. Another interpretation could be a husband or wife going out all of the time and leaving the other one at home resulting in the neglected one leaving.
