A personal emotional song about my Father and my childhood
I'm a country singer/songwriter from Denmark
Story behind the song
My father made a lot of paintings when he was alive, and one of them is hanging on my wall, and brings up a lot of wonderful memories from my childhood.
The subject in the painting is the farm my father was born, and I spent a lot of time there playing with my cousins
Lyrics
The Painting on the wall
Music and lyrics: Peter Borup
There’s a painting in my livingroom
Hanging on the wall
My Daddy made this piece of art
From mem’ries he recalled
The grass is green, the sky is blue
And there’s a single cloud
And though it’s seen With Daddy’s eyes
My mem’ry does recall
CHORUS
This painting on the wall
Is like a window to my past
The days’s when I was just a boy
A time that didn’t last
When Mom and Dad where there for me
To ease my days long gone
When winters were so full of snow
And summers full of sun
The subject in the Picture
Is the farm where Dad was born
My Grandma, Grandpa lived there
Working till their health was torn
The garden and the barn
is where my childhood days have gone
Where Grandpa milked the cows
And we ate cookies in the sun
CHORUS
SOLO
Through this window
Happy childhood mem’ries pass my mind
But the window dosen’t open
I’m a prisoner in time
The farm is gone, and so is dad
But mem’ries still stand tall
I see them through this painted window
Hanging on my wall
