Story behind the song
Stoned Flog Estuary is now the first song on our THIRD CD that will be available shortly here on mp3.com, "Hootie and the BlowNuts". This track takes you out to a nice breezy beach, plays a brief prelude, then catapults you into the land of predators. Riveting music here, I highly recommend it for those who like immediate change-ups that focus on the manipulation of the mind. Props go to POL (C-Schulz, Marcus Schmickler, and Christoph Kahse) for inspiration on this effort. This track seems so ethereal at first, you would think you were walking on a willy Wonka path of candies. The occasional ripping synth reminds you that danger approaches. Bliss turns to fear, as you take flight from what stalks you. You keep running, looking back at a shadow looming overhead, about to swoop down on you and claim you for lunch. Do you manage to escape? When we began on this song, it was obvious that we were beginning to make some serious music based on emotions and the manipulation of those most vulnerable (at least to us, who tend to be stalwart lab rats) root of all emotion, and that is the provocation through rhythm and power. All three members of Phrygia collaborated on this effort, and we now think we are escalating our stakes in what we produce. Enjoy.
