Solo act playing original and cover material on 12-string and keyboards. Available for booking in Central Oklahoma.
I have been playing and writing songs for more years than most of you have been alive. I started classical piano when I was 8, 12-string guitar when I was ten, and wrote my first song when I was 16. I am largely self-taught, but have benefitted greatly from the many bands I've played with over the years. I've also been an avid listener of music, and sought to incorporate many different styles into my songwriting. As you will hear, my songs reflect the fact that I've been many places and done many things other than just play music. They have, in the original sense of the word, character.

Story behind the song
I was playing as the keyboardist in the Boise Blues Society in 2004. We would always open the show with this song. I came up with it, on stage, during that wonderful time of my life. It is a happy song, despite its name. I did the album thinking I could use it as an instruction CD for all the guys I was playing with at the time. The engineer, Gary Cunningham, sent it to me, and the sound quality is not that good for some reason. Hope you enjoy.
Lyrics
WELCOME BACK TO THE BLUES Dan Matheny – In the Year of Our Lord 2004 Welcome back! Welcome back to the blues, Welcome back! Welcome back to the blues. You can sing, you can dance – got nothin’ to lose. Well, ya saw her down there at the end of the bar, You said, now honey, you can be a star! Welcome back! Welcome back to the blues. You can sing, you can dance – got nothin’ to lose. Interlude You said now honey I’m a two timin’ man, She said now don’t ya worry ‘cause you’re in the band, Welcome back, Welcome back to the blues, I can sing, you can dance – let us cruise. Well I bet you never thought you’d be here again, You only came back lookin’ for a friend. Welcome back, welcome back to the blues. Whatta ya know? You’re in the show! Interlude and Finale
