I am a musician and songwriter (primarily guitar and mandolin, but with amateur forays into banjo, fiddle, concertina, percussion and keyboard), jammer and jam host, recording engineer, producer, studio mole and occasional performer. When I perform solo, I'm hank49. When friends accompany me, we're hank49 and Loose Canon. Loose Canon is an ever shifting assembly of fellow musicians including Tom Edwards, Mitch Prevatte, Brian Chaney, Kevin Chaney, Lena and Jason Redding, Bronson Shanahan, Robert Darlington, Dave Eske, Johnny Decker, John O'hara, John Seay and more.

Story behind the song
This machine just needs to be touched and made to feel alive. This machine's been very good to me.
Lyrics
THIS MACHINE VERSE 1 The world is off its orbit The world is gone to hell Its hard to ignore it With the tolling of the bell Chiming in the distance As the constellations fall And nowhere in existence Is a compass for it all How shall we treat our neighbor What will guide our way Upon what shall we labor In the bright light of day So what more could you ask for Than a simple golden rule For any town or pasture Or any craft or tool CHORUS Were picking up the plowshares Were laying down the sword The sweat is on the brow, dear But the heart yearns for more Whatever be our acts In earth, stone or wood Whatever we manufacture, man It ought to do somebody good VERSE 2 So we will make the engines And we will work the mills We will work the harvest In the fields and in the hills But we will make no poisons And we will make no death But we will make a holy noise With our hands and with our breath So gather up some Rosewood Mahogany and Spruce Let it cure on up good And put it to good use Make a thing of beauty Make a thing of sound Make a thing of roots That'll lift you from the ground INSTRUMENTAL CHORUS VERSE 3 This machine don't need much And this machine don't lie It just needs to be touched And made to feel alive That'll break it in good And it doesn't take too long Then this machine makes music This machine makes song Now it might take some practice It might take some time But this machine will pay you back For every single dime That you put into the action And the shiny silver strings Cause this machines reaction Is this machine just sings CHORUS Were picking up the plowshares Were laying down the sword The sweat is on the brow, dear But the heart yearns for more Whatever be our acts In earth, stone or wood Whatever we manufacture, man It ought to do somebody good VERSE 4 This machines my story This machines my life This machines my glory And Ill work it till I die When my body's gone to ashes I'm gonna take it up above Cause this machine kills fascists too And this machine makes love CHORUS Were picking up the plowshares Were laying down the sword The sweat is on the brow, dear But the heart yearns for more Whatever be our acts In earth, stone or wood Whatever we manufacture, man It ought to do somebody good I wanna thank the man whose hands made This old piece of wood
