Story behind the song
My wife, Coral and I have created this Myspace Music Group in hopes of spreading some holiday cheer and eventually some patriotic tunes to help bolster the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA in these trying times. This is a Readers Digest version of our story. Hope that you can help us in our quest to hopefully pull out of our current situation financially. Coral was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer about 2 years ago - and has since gone through 4 surguries (Double Mastectomy, Reconstructive Surgery, Reconstructive Repair Surgery, and Hysterectomy), her most recent was the end of November 2008. She unfortunately was laid off from her work in June of 2007 - and to add insult to injury - I was laid off from my job December 1, 2008. So, needless to say, with all the medical bills and financial strains of this current economy, we are struggling to make ends meet. It is our hope that through the use of our God given talents that we might be able to supplement our current financial situation by selling some of our collaborative efforts in music. Coral is a gifted singer & lyricist and me, well I've been playing guitar for about 35 years. So, we figured that we would team up and see what kind of musical inspiration we could come up with to hopefully inspire others with our tunes and in turn inspire them to inspire us! Is that an oxy-moron? Sounds like it could have come from the movie Jerry Mcguire --" Help me to help you!" LOL Anyway, we will be marketing our Christmas Song entitled "The Reason for the Season" on Itunes, Amazonmp3, and Rhapsody. We genuinely hope that this tune will bring light and joy to any and all during this holiday season. Please spread the word to all you may know that would be interested in helping out and hopefully being spiritually uplifted during this wonderful time of year. It�s been a tough year for so many people in Mesquite as well as around the world. Local residents, Mark and Coral Cardon, are no strangers to hardship. Coral is a two year breast cancer survivor who was laid off from her job back in July of 2007. This past year she has been through four major surgeries for reconstruction and a hysterectomy. Mark was just laid off December 1. �We started thinking about all of the things we have to be thankful for this holiday season,� the Cardon�s expressed. The more they thought, the more they began to feel inspired to do something to share a message of hope with others. The Reason for the Season, a Christmas song, is a collaborative gift of love created by the couple. Coral wrote the lyrics.
