An entry in a contest/challenge at KAE forum that required the tune to be a 12 bar blues, and have a change of tempo also. And of course a tribute to the man himself.
There's smoke in the backroom
And the bursars getting paid
Handprints on the mirror
That's what makes me so afraid.
We're at the corner of every street in Hell.
Welcome to the 12 Bar Blues Motel.
Little Bar in the backroom
Got whatever you need.
Straight up Jamesons
Maybe even a little weed.
There' a Good band playing blues
And they'll drive your soul to Hell
Welcome to the 12 Bar Blues Motel.
Now the barback ups and hollers
And the jukebox won't take dollars
The pool table's missing the seven ball.
There's an old man asking for a buck
And that young gal, she's just out of luck
And if you weren't here you would've missed it all.
You can get a room
Or you can sit there at the bar.
It all just depends on just how far along you are.
If your plans ain't working out
Well the barmaid, she can tell,
Welcome to the 12 Bar Blues motel.
[break]
See the parking lot, it's jumping
About to be a fight or two.
And the house band's bass is thumping
It don't matter what you do...
Everybody pays the cover charge
And there's tickets left to sell.
If you still want in, the 12 Bar Blues Motel.
Now the tables never empty out
And the singer tries to make a shout
But he's on the second night
Of a one night stand.
And if you come back tomorrow
Gonna be just more sorrow
Only difference is a different band.
Little bar in the backroom
Got whatever you need
Straight up Jamesons
Maybe even a little weed.
There's a good band playing blues
And they'll drive your soul to Hell.
Welcome to the 12 Bar Blues Motel.
