I am a singer/songwriter in the Philadelphia area. My style is best described as alternative power pop. I released my solo CD "Another Chapter" in 2007. Prior to that I was the lead singer of the bands Broken Jones and Elroy, both of which released CDs.
Story behind the song
This song was inspired by a gig I shared with another band that will remain nameless. After what she perceived as a bad show, the lead singer went into a huge funk. Her boyfriend/guitarist confided in me that all he could do was pull her from the edge (of breakdown I assume) at times like these. I related it also to being in a relationship but still feeling insecure about it.
Lyrics
Always smiling is the face she shows to the world
When the doors close, she becomes another girl
Desperation frustration, is running through her head
Sometimes all I can do is pull her from the edge
I've got, I've got, I've got a sullen girl
She's not, she's not, she's not in love with me
It's all right, it's all right, it's all right she says to me
Sometimes you take what you can get.
Why am I the one she chose
What's it that brings me back?
Sometimes admitting you're in love
Is like admitting what you lack
Am I fooling myself to hear what she doesn't say
Must be a reason I can never,
Never walk away
I've got, I've got, I've got a sullen girl
She's says, she's not, she's not in love with me
It's all right, it's all right, it's all right she says to me
Sometimes you take what you can get.

I've got, I've got, I've got a sullen girl
I know, she is, she is in love with me
It's all right, it's all right, it's all right she says to me
Sometimes you take what you can get.
