Story behind the song

I first heard this tune back in the 60s or 70s. I was drawn to the simple melody and the way it changes from minor to major keys.  

I like the mood and feel of the song - it provokes a certain  melancholy that I find enjoyable.

I recorded all the parts myself using guitar, mandolin and bass, multitracking on a Zoom 1266 digital recorder.
