Story behind the song
I saw the popular version of this song, " If I Were A Boy" and thought it was a vocally potent song sung by Beyonce Knowles. But after reading the lyrics, I winced thinking of how many time Beyonce has used this topic in her song to put men down and portray us as sniveling imbeciles. So I thought at first as a joke what it would sound like to respond to such a song and this song came together. I rewrote the lyrics to be "If I Were a Girl" and sang it for fun. Note: I do recognize that there are very lovely ladies out there, and I applaud them. Also Lyrics Copyright held by SocoPop Records.
Lyrics
If I Were A Girl (Originally: “If I Were A Boy” By: Britney Carlson, Toby Gad and Beyonce Knowles; Rev. Lyrics by: Francois Bessing) If I were a girl, Even just for one day, I’d get out of bed in the morning, Worry bout each thing as I go. Complain how time flies, Chase that cash ‘til I die, I’d play with fire ‘til it burnt me, And never change my mind on what, why? What defines as a guy. If I were a girl, I couldn’t dare understand, What it means to be a guy, To fight and work to be a man. I’d want to be first, Make perfection a curse, Play around with emotions, Control them with my notions, And play the love while mining for gold. If I were a girl, I would want so to own, The finest makeup and perfume, To make myself appear as grown. I’d make myself fine, And suggest what to buy, Let the boys pay the big bills, Making life revolve ‘round my own. (Round my own!) If I were a girl, I couldn’t dare understand, What it means to be a guy, To fight and work to be a man. I’d want to be first, Make perfection a curse, Play around with emotions, (emotions) Control them with my notions, (notions) And play the love while mining for gold. It’s a little too late to have you call me back, Say I made a mistake, Think that my reasoning’s crap, If you thought I would pay for all, You thought wrong! But you're just a girl, You cannot comprehend, (no you can’t comprehend No!) How it feels to be a guy, You’ll never fight or work to be “the man”. You just want to be first, You don’t care if it hurts! Accustomed to play with emotions, Seductress without notion, And everything you have isn’t yours! But you're just a girl…

this song sucks!!
Francois, I have to admit I don´t know the original song, but what I hear here I do like. Don´t have a clue if you took a whole playback of the original, so I won´t be commenting on the music but on voice and lyrics. The idea is great, the lyrics interesting, change the angle and you get something entirely new. Great thing to do, also there are some pretty good ideas concerning the girl boy topic hidden inside your lyrics. Very good. I sincerely do hope you don´t MEAN every word you sing, and rather look at the lyrics as poetic thing, because if you meant it all, I´d have a problem. I personally LOVE women, first of all my wife, my daughters, though I would never claim I´d understand them, but hey, you can´t have it all, can you? So that is that. But now the best thing: Your voice. Man you really got an asset here. Very very good. Listening to the current song: The higher the pitch, the better you get. Had a feeling that on the low end it was getting a little thinn
