Track 6 - Gone Fishin' with Andy
Artist picture
The 15th anniversary internet only reissue of "Gone Fishin with Andy" includes all of the tracks from the original cassette only (approximately 100 made and distributed) album issued in 1994 by Andy Turits who then became "the artist currently known as &y" and is now planet andy. Also included here are 3 previously unreleased bonus tracks and 2 previously unreleased music videos. The original cassette art was designed by Lyndon Lorenz. We bought a couple of fish from the seafood store and Lyndon shot a roll of film out on the fire escape of our building in Hoboken, NJ. David Decampo provided the archived digital master of "People Who Think (version 1)". Michael Thomson helped me rescue the live from the Snowgoose tracks included here as well as my entire set performed that day which was originally recorded on a DAT tape.

Story behind the song
Whoa boy! Where to begin? "Daddy's an Alarmist" has enjoyed life as an internet single having been downloaded/played more than 1000 times. Here it sits in its original lineup. Out of hand on the Sampler. Ping ponging guitar solo. My Jazzmaster through an MXR Distortion+ through an Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man over a cool bass line that I paraphrased from Macca. The story is pretty much true and prophetic all at once. At some point in the early '90s dad and I had finished a brake job on one of our cars and we were taking it for a test drive. We stopped to change drivers and heard a THWUUMP to our right. A pump island at the gas station had burst into flames and there was a fire alarm box right at the corner 30 feet from where we had stopped. It was clear that nobody had been hurt and the fire was being contained by a extinguisher safety system. We ran to the fire box and dad pulls it, and says with a big smile "I've always wanted to do that since I was a little kid!" He was as excited as his grandson, my son Max gets when he sees a fire engine.
