Image And Nation

AMBIENT WESTERN NEW AGE. Epic new age, post-apocalyptic western, soundscapes. Mythology and visual art.

Image And Nation is the brainchild of Glenn Grubbs of Tesseract7. It began as an experiment in the new age genre, and grew and changed with the addition film score style soundscapes. It radically changed as Post-Apocalyptic guitar rock pieces began to find their way into the project. The project is growing, evolving, and not done. Stories are being developed in the lyrics that are still being written, more music is being written, and anything you see here can be taken as a work in progress right now. Although it is no longer a strictly "new age" project, it is still very spiritual in nature and embodies an evolution of the "new age" experiment as opposed to a complete deviation. Thus, I have still listed the project as new age for the purpose of sorting.

Story behind the song

Probably the coolest thing I can say about this song is that it was recorded partially online. My favorite singer moved to a different state, but neither of us wanted to stop working together. So we built her a mini-studio and devised a system using a combination of webcam and VNC software that would allow me to produce a recording session with her while we're both at our individual homes. Sometimes she would control her software and I'd simply be sharing ideas with her. Other times I'll use the VNC program to directly take control of her machine to produce in a more hands-on way. This song is the first song that we've recorded in this fashion. It's really interesting that we can carry on a session that has the basic feel and sound of a session where we'd both be in the same room, but with her in Washington and me in California.
